SFU component installation

Introduction

Various SFU components need to be installed on different systems in the overall architectural framework. The following sections provide details of the required installation tasks for each system type.

Domain controllers (Server for NIS)

The “Server for NFS Authentication” component under the “Authentication tools for NFS section. Note only install the Server for NFS authentication component and no other component in this package element. (This component handles translation of Unix to Windows authentication requests from NFS servers)

During the installation you will be asked if you want to enable the interix setuid feature. Do not enable this feature.

File server (Server for NFS)

The following components need to be installed and configured on the main file server.

Server for NFS

The “Server for NFS Authentication” component under the “Authentication tools for NFS section”

The “User name mapping” component under the “Authentication tools for NFS section

During the installation you will be asked if you want to enable the interix setuid feature. Do not enable this feature.

During the installation you will be prompted to select either “remote” or “local” user name mapping. Select “local” with the NIS option. On the subsequent dialog box which prompts for the NIS domain name enter the W2K domain name as the NIS domain name
